Systemic Psychotherapist (Family Therapist)

Maura holds a Masters degree from the Mater/UCD Family Therapy Training Programme and is registered with the Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI) and the Irish Council of Psychotherapy (ICP). 

Maura works with individuals, couples, families and children.

Maura uses a systemic approach which involves working with clients in the context of their relationships with significant others in their lives, including family members which facilitates clients to reach an understanding of the difficulties they are experiencing through dialogue and reflection, with a view to developing a different understanding of their difficulties and alternative ways of managing their lives in time.  Change happens through this therapeutic process.

Maura acknowledges the importance of developing and maintaining a warm and respectful therapeutic relationship with her clients. Clients are facilitated to talk openly about their difficult experiences in a safe context. Maura currently works part-time as a Systemic Psychotherapist (Family Therapist) in Genesis Psychotherapy and Family Therapy Service, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. 

Maura also holds a Masters in Social Science (Social Work) degree from UCD and worked previously as a Senior Medical Social Worker for twelve years in acute hospital settings with patients and their families presenting with a wide range of difficulties including mental health issues, family issues, illness, loss and bereavement.  Maura works with individuals, couples, families and children.
